International Learning Movement UK is proud of the fantastic work undertaken by our incredible team of volunteers who go out of their way to raise money, giving their own time to support our cause. Fundraisers have, and always will be, a key part of raising money for charity – allowing volunteers to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising.
Fundraisers generally mean that volunteers can, and should, have some fun with whatever they are doing to raise money for their cause. Fun events and seeing those involved genuinely enjoying themselves is a great way of enticing more people to join in the fun, all while reminding everyone of the reason why they are taking part.
If you or someone you know has a desire to get involved with ILM UK’s fundraising efforts but are not quite sure where to begin, take a look at some of our favorite ways to raise money for a noble cause. Hopefully, this post will inspire you to do something to make a difference and to get started with us today.
Outdoor fundraisers can be large in scale and, if the weather is kind, can make for a great all-round event for anyone that participates. Of course, an outdoor fundraising idea does not necessarily mean throwing a mass event, which would require relevant permits and insurance.
A popular fundraising idea, particularly for anyone sporty, is to organise a fun run and/or take part in an organised marathon/half-marathon event. Participants can choose to support any charity of their choice (for example, runners in the London Marathon could decide to raise money for ILM UK) and seek out sponsors who agree to pay on completion of the challenge.
It goes without saying that the summer months mark the best time of the year for outdoor fundraisers, otherwise donors may be put off from attending due to poor conditions. When the sun is shining, some fun ways to raise money for charity may include:
If you are not expecting to have the type of weather that lends itself to standing outside for a few hours, or if you simply prefer to hold an indoor charity event, there are still some great possibilities available to you. Holding a fundraiser indoors is likely to be more friendly to members of the community who may not cope wellbeing outside for an extended period (especially in colder months).
Indoor fundraisers mean that you have more control over the setting and can potentially ask for an attendance fee. Some good ideas for indoor fundraising events include:
This is just a selection of ideas, but if you can think of anything that you are confident guests would love to be a part of, then by all means go ahead and run with it! The ILM UK team will be happy to discuss your idea and brainstorm ideas with you to make your fundraiser a successful one.
Not all fundraisers require hundreds of people in attendance to raise lots of money for charity – the Covid-19 pandemic has certainly taught us that. We have been asked for fundraising suggestions by plenty of keen volunteers looking to do their bit to help those less fortunate. Some easy fundraising ideas that you can do at home include:
If your fundraising juices are stirring after reading our suggestions, then please get in contact with a member of the ILM UK team today and we will be more than happy to assist. Alternatively, if you would rather make a one-off donation without organising a fundraising event, then that is also fine and you can make your kind payment through our donations page here.
