Mercy Shifaa Fund - Dr KhalidDr Khalid
A paediatrician from Gaza who lost his leg in an explosion. He needs a prosthetic limb so he can walk again and return to treating children.

Meet Dr Khalid
Before the conflict, Dr Khalid spent his days caring for children as a paediatrician in Gaza. Parents trusted him and families depended on him.
During the war, an explosion sent shrapnel through his leg. The injuries were so severe that doctors had no choice but to amputate in order to save his life. Overnight, the doctor who had spent his life helping others became the one who needed help.
“If you can help me get a prosthetic leg that I can properly walk on, I will go back to Gaza and continue working as a doctor.”
When we met him in Egypt
When our team met Dr Khalid after his medical evacuation, we expected him to speak about everything he had lost. Instead, he spoke about going home.
He wasn't asking for comfort. He was asking for the chance to keep serving his people.

Why your donation matters
Helping Dr Khalid does more than transform one life - it restores a doctor whose skills could benefit hundreds of patients in the years ahead.
He has already dedicated his life to serving others. Today he simply needs someone to help him stand again.
Any additional donations received for this individual, or funds remaining once their treatment is complete, will be used to support other medical evacuees within the Mercy Shifaa Fund or similar charitable projects at ILM UK's discretion.
